The Disaster Medical Assistance Response team based in Rockland County, NY is a Level 1 team under the Federal HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary of Emergency Preparedness & Response, (OASPR). They have been asked by HHS to expand their Roster from 125 to 155 members. They are in need of Pharmacists. ALL Deployments and some trainings are paid and uniforms and training are provided. Responders are covered under USERRA http://www.esgr.org/userra.asp and are protected when they have to leave their full time jobs for a deployment which usually last 10-14 days. They are on call a few times a year. Members commit to a rotation for deployment with a team of 35 other medical professionals to a disaster in the US. They also provide care at events like the Olympics, inaugurations, and events of national significance.
