Feds to State: No Money for You
It just might be the biggest story you've never heard about.
The state claims the federal government owes New York millions -- if not billions -- of dollars, but the feds contend they have no legal obligation to pay it. Given Governor Paterson's bleak assessment of the state's finances, the money would certainly come in handy.
"It's the taxpayers' money," said Craig Burridge, President of the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York. "We want it, and if we have to go to court to get it, we will do that."

Located here is a compilation of media coverage generated from last week's event in the Bronx, as well as some remainder pieces generated from previous events. Of particular note – the Gannett News (publisher of multiple regional papers) featured a piece by Cara Matthews with great quotes by PSSNY President Nasir Mahmood, and published it in Sunday's Westchester Journal News, Friday's Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin, and today's Elmira Star-Gazette. We may see other Gannett papers pick it up as well. This Gannett piece was also featured on the Empire Page (www.empirepage.com), which is a well-read round-up of statewide news. Also, Chairman Don Cantalino did a very nice interview with the Long Island Business News (in new Senate Majority Leader Skelos' backyard), which ran on Friday and is also attached with the rest of the pieces.
Note that state officials are starting to respond to our outreach, which shows we're attracting their attention.
