Dear PSSNY Members:

As you know May 23, 2008 is rapidly approaching and Pharmacies will be required to provide the Doctor's National Provider Id (NPI) on all Pharmacy claims. In an effort to assist our members with this mandate, PSSNY is offering the Prescriber Look Up Tool, HCIdea at a 50% discount ($250) for all PSSNY Members. Please contact Chris at the PSSNY Office (800) 632-8822 to verify your membership status and to order your copy of the HCIdea at 50% off!!

THIS DISCOUNT IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS AND ONLY BY CONTACTING PSSNY FIRST.
If you have questions please click here first to read the frequently asked questions document - most of your questions can be answered here.

Working with the National Association of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA), NCPDP is offering PSSNY the opportunity to provide NCPDP's web-based HCIdea™ Prescriber Look-up product to PSSNY members for heavily discounted subscription fees.

Pharmacies must contact PSSNY and verify participation and membership. PSSNY will then provide NCPDP with information on member pharmacies wishing discounted pricing and NCPDP will extend the discounted pricing to these pharmacies.

The HCIdea™ Prescriber Look-up tool is a great improvement over the NPI Registry provided by CMS. Pharmacists may search for a prescriber in the HCIdea™ prescriber database simply by entering a valid DEA number. Or, pharmacists can perform a geographic search based upon name and city or state. More pharmacy friendly search criteria save pharmacists time filling prescriptions or updating prescriber files and therefore money.

In addition to NPIs, the prescriber records show multiple addresses and phone/fax information, DEA information, information on licensing and prescriber specialties.

ALERT: NCPDP announces that the National Provider Identifier (NPI) is now available on the HCIdea™ prescriber database as of November 1, 2007. This relational database, with over 1.3 million prescribers, is now more robust that ever before. Designed specifically for the pharmacy services sector of the healthcare industry, NCPDP's HCIdea™ is the premier product for prescriber information including NPI to DEA mapping or cross walking, and multiple practice locations.

The HCIdea™ online lookup tool (www.HCIdeaLookUp.org) allows pharmacies to obtain address, phone, licensure, DEA and NPI information on prescribers using a web browser. For a demo of this product please visit www.HCIdeaLookUp.org and click on "Watch the Demo." The HCIdea v2.0 relational database contains multiple addresses, legacy identifiers, DEA numbers, State License information and NPIs. Save precious time when looking up a prescriber's NPI. It's faster, easier than any database you'll use.

Pharmacies must contact PSSNY and verify participation and membership. PSSNY will then provide NCPDP with information on member pharmacies wishing a 50% discounted price and NCPDP will extend the discounted pricing to these pharmacies.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE DISCOUNT - In order to receive a 50% discount off the annual subscription retail price of $500, a pharmacist must be a member of PSSNY. The following steps will allow the pharmacy to receive the discount.

  1. The pharmacy decides they wish to license the HCIdea™ Prescriber Look-up Tool.
  2. The pharmacy contacts PSSNY and becomes a member or verifies its membership. Membership is required to obtain the discount.
  3. The pharmacy provides PSSNY with the following information:
    a. Pharmacy or chain (if more than one pharmacy) legal name
    b. Name of owner or responsible party
    c. Phone of owner or responsible party
    d. Number of subscribing locations at $250 per location
    e. Number of additional users at $50 per additional user
    f. Address, city, state and zip for owner (if chain) or physical location (if single store)
    g. Email address of responsible party
    h. Whether the pharmacy is subscribing as a chain of owned stores or a single store.
  4. The state association verifies information and forwards the information to NCPDP.
  5. NCPDP creates a "client record" for the future subscriber with the appropriate number of locations, users and the total subscription fee to be paid.
  6. NCPDP emails a special registration code to the email address of the responsible party. KEEP THIS CODE to obtain the discount.
  7. The responsible party will go to www.HCIdeaLookUp.org click on "pharmacy" and enter their registration code at the bottom of the screen. DO NOT ENTER AN NCPDP ID. This will result in a charge at retail price. Enter the special registration code and the discounted price will appear.
  8. The pharmacy completes subscription using a credit card as payment.
  9. After completing registration, the customer ("client") will have access to a "Client Admin" function which will allow the responsible party to create authorized users using an email address for each user.
