Awards to be presented at PSSNY's Annual Convention & Exhibition.
Any Member can nominate someone! Send in a nomination today- they'll appreciate it! Awards available:

Jack V. Nicolais Spirit of Pharmacy Award - presented annually by PSSNY to a pharmacist who is a member in good standing of PSSNY for at least three consecutive years, must present a favorable impression of pharmacy or of a pharmacist to the public, must have performed service to the profession of pharmacy or to a a pharmacy organization, and must have aided in the preservation or advancement of community pharmacy.

Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award - Sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual Companies, presented annually to a pharmacist licensed in New York who has practiced 9 years or less, is a member of PSSNY, practicing in community, institutional, or consulting pharmacy and who has actively participated in national pharmacy associations, professional programs, state association activities and/or community service.

Bowl of Hygeia Award - Sponsored by sponsored by the APhA Foundation and NASPA, presented annually to a pharmacist who has compiled an outstanding record of community service, which, apart from his/her specific identification as a pharmacist, reflects well on the profession. The recipient must be a pharmacist licensed in NYS, must be living, must have not been a previous recipient and is currently not serving, nor has served within the immediate past two years as an officer of PSSNY in other than an ex-officio capacity or its Awards Committee.

Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award - presented annually to a pharmacist practicing in NYS and who has demonstrated innovative pharmacy practice resulting in improved patient care.

The Cardinal Health Generation Rx Champions Award recognizes a pharmacist who has demonstrated excellence in community-based prescription drug abuse prevention. The award is intended to recognize outstanding efforts within the pharmacy community to raise awareness of this serious public health problem. It is also intended to encourage educational prevention efforts aimed at patients, youth and other members of the community.

Criteria:
The nominee must be a pharmacist who is a member of PSSNY. Self-nominations are allowed. Applications will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:

• Commitment to community-based educational prevention efforts aimed at prescription drug abuse
  
• Involvement of other community groups in the planning and implementation of prevention programs
  
• Innovation and creativity in the creation and implementation of prevention activities
  
• Scope/magnitude of prescription drug abuse efforts
  Demonstrated impact of prescription drug abuse prevention efforts

Nomination Process:
The nominator is responsible for submitting an award nomination packet. The deadline for nomination materials is May 1st. The nomination packet is to include the following items:

• A letter from the nominator describing the most important achievements of the nominee and explaining why the nominee meets the criteria for the award
  
• Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a representative of a community group familiar with the nominee's prescription drug abuse prevention efforts
  
• A current CV or detailed resume
  

Nature of Award:
The award, to be presented at PSSNY's Annual Convention and Exhibition in June at the Fort William Henry in Lake George, NY, consists of a plaque, a $500 contribution to the community charity of the awardee's choice, a complementary awards ceremony registration for the recipient and her/his guest, and a full-page advertisement in the state association's newsletter highlighting the recipient's community educational efforts to prevent prescription drug abuse.
