HCIdea Prescriber Lookup (Including NPI!) Member Discount
THIS DISCOUNT IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS AND ONLY BY CONTACTING PSSNY FIRST. Working with the National Association of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA), NCPDP is offering PSSNY the opportunity to provide NCPDP's web-based HCIdea Prescriber Look-up product to PSSNY members for heavily discounted subscription fees. Pharmacies must contact PSSNY and verify participation and membership. PSSNY will then provide NCPDP with information on member pharmacies wishing discounted pricing and NCPDP will extend the discounted pricing to these pharmacies.

The HCIdea Prescriber Look-up tool is a great improvement over the NPI Registry provided by CMS. Pharmacists may search for a prescriber in the HCIdea prescriber database simply by entering a valid DEA number. Or, pharmacists can perform a geographic search based upon name and city or state. More pharmacy friendly search criteria save pharmacists time filling prescriptions or updating prescriber files and therefore money.

In addition to NPIs, the prescriber records show multiple addresses and phone/fax information, DEA information, information on licensing and prescriber specialties

The State of New York recently issued tough challenges for pharmacies:

As of June 1, 2004, NY Medicaid will no longer issue Medicaid Numbers to pharmacies without Medicare Numbers – new pharmacies MUST be Medicare Suppliers
New York Medicaid strongly encourages existing NYS pharmacies to obtain a Medicare Number in order to ensure that you will be allowed to continue to provide service to the approximately 600,000 dual-eligible beneficiaries, which represent approximately 50% of the drug budget
For dual-eligible beneficiaries, Medicare Suppliers must submit claims to Medicare BEFORE submitting secondary claims to Medicaid
October 6, 2004 is NY Medicaid's HIPAA Compliance Deadline. After that date, non-HIPAA compliant electronic claims will NOT be paid
Now you can submit Medicare/Medicaid claims through CareCLAIM, just like any other third-party prescription. Use your existing pharmacy system - there is no hardware to purchase or software to learn!
