As New York’s payment reform plan for Medicaid Managed Care approaches year three of a five-year plan, resources are becoming available to keep health care providers informed and engaged. The goals of this overhaul are to improve the quality of care, improve individual health, and to reduce expenditures. By 2020, all Managed Care Organizations must employ non fee-for-service payment systems that reward value over volume for at least 80-90% of their provider payments.
New York’s Value-based Payment Model: Join a PPS Between March 15 – April 1, 2017
New York State is at the midpoint of the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program and many pharmacists are still unaware of what it is or why it is.
DOH has reopened the PPS Provider Network for a SHORT period of time (March 15 – April 1, 2017) to allow providers, such as pharmacies, to contact and express interest in joining a Performing Provider System (PPS). If you are interested in in being included in a PPS network please reach out to your local PPS.
The Department of Health is launching the Value-based Payment (VBP) Bootcamps webpage. The VBP Bootcamps are three-day regional learning series created by the Department of Health with a goal to equip future VBP contractors with the knowledge necessary to implement NYS Payment Reform. The website will provide you with the Bootcamp schedule, content outlines and ability to register for sessions in your region. Please remember to visit and sign up, as the first session for the Capital Region kicks-off on June 2nd. Registrations will open 3 weeks in advance and close 1 week before the event. These events are free and open to the public.
For those who are unable to attend the Bootcamp sessions 1, 2, and 3 of Region 1 (Capital region, Mid-Hudson, and the Southern Tier) will be webcast live. The link will be sent out when it becomes available.
