Cover My Compounds: Resource Guide

brought to you by the IV, Nuclear and Compounding Academy

Welcome to PSSNY’s resource on compounded medication coverage issues.  The practice of pharmacy has evolved to include many services, but the genesis of our profession was compounding, and this service plays an important role in patient care.  Health care providers know that the best solution for their patients is not always a ‘one size fits all’ approach.  As a patient, you did not choose to need a compounded prescription, your health-care practitioner felt that it was the best or only treatment for you.  Needless to say, several insurance companies and pharmacy benefits managers (PBMs) are discriminating against you by making it very difficult for your practitioner to prescribe these medications or by choosing not to cover them at all.  This causes delays in treatment for you or a loved one or causes you to go without medication.  This page will be a resource for you to acquire accurate information and give you the direction to take appropriate action.  Be sure to join the Compounding Group on www.PSSNY.org (click here) for important future developments and communications. Note-you must be a PSSNY member to join this group.
