Pharmacist Immunizer Role in an Influenza Pandemic

Presenter: Scott Coley, Bureau of Immunization, NYS Department of Health
Scott Coley MS, MPH is a Research Scientist, Bureau of Immunization New York State Department of Health
Scott has a master’s degree in virology and a master of public health degree (epidemiology).
He is the Preparedness Subject Matter Expert and works on a variety of policy and operational special projects for the Bureau of Immunization.

 This program is for immunizing pharmacists in NYS. 

 At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • State the rationale for signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH);
  • Define the role of pharmacies in the event of a pandemic;
  • Define the role of the NYS DOH in the event of a pandemic;
  • Identify the NYSDOH pandemic vaccine management procedure
    • allocation of vaccine
    • distribution of vaccine
    • documentation
    • payment
    • communication.
