Legislative Issues in NYS Affecting Pharmacy Learning Objectives:

 

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

§  describe the 2017 NYS Budget proposal and the potential impact on pharmacies and pharmacists in New York State;

§  define CLIA waived testing, list examples of CLIA waived tests and discuss the current limitations of NYS pharmacists to provide CLIA waived testing;

§  describe the status of pharmacist immunizers and the proposed changes to expand the program to add all CDC recommended vaccines for adults and allow pharmacy interns to immunize;

§  define medication synchronization and describe the proposed bill for pharmacists to initiate a voluntary program, require insurers to reimburse pharmacies and pro-rate co-payments, and require insurers to pay a dispensing fee.

Updates in Diabetes: CV Mortality and Guidelines Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

§  identify guideline updates in the American Diabetes Association (ADA) 2017 Standards of Care guidelines;

§  recognize differences in pharmacologic management between the ADA and AACE clinical practice;

§  describe the place in therapy of incretin-based therapies in the treatment of type 2 diabetes;

§  describe the place in therapy of SGLT-2 inhibitors in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

 

Update in Diabetes: CV Mortality and Guidelines

 

This session will aim to review key updates to clinical practice guidelines for the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and review literature for incretin-based therapies and SGLT-2 inhibitors in light of the recent cardiovascular mortality data.

 

 

Legislative Issues in NYS Affecting Pharmacy

This activity will include a group discussion to provide a greater understanding of how current laws are impacting practicing pharmacists and pharmacies.

The activity will also include a group discussion of proposed current legislation and the potential impact on the practice of pharmacy in New York State.

 

The Pharmacists Society of the State of New York is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

To receive credit for this program, participants must complete the sign-in sheet and complete the online evaluation. Information will be sent to mycpemonitor.net within 10 days of the conclusion of the program.
