A Pharmacists Toolkit for Pain Management

Learning objectives:

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
(1) Review non-opioid treatment options for chronic non cancer pain
(2) Compare and contrast various risk mitigation strategies to utilize for patients on chronic opioids
(3) Recognize risks associated with opioid equivalence conversions and utilization of morphine equivalence
(4) Discuss naloxone products available on the market for in-home use and legislation surrounding their distribution
(5) Assess a patient's risk for respiratory depression and need for in-home naloxone through the Risk Index for Overdose or Serious Opioid induced Respiratory Depression (RIOSORD) tool.
