Medication Errors in HIV – Getting It Right
John J. Faragon, PharmD, BCPS, AAHIVP; Pharmacist, HIV/HCV Medicine, Albany Medical Center; Regional Pharmacy Director Northeast/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center

Presenter:

Dr. John Faragon is a Pharmacist at Albany Medical Center and the Regional Pharmacy Director for the Northeast Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC). His areas of specialty include drug interactions with HIV medications as well as medication errors. Dr. Faragon completed his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Albany College of Pharmacy in 2000, followed by an Ambulatory Care/Adult Learning residency in conjunction with Altamont Internal Medicine/Pediatrics and Albany College of Pharmacy.

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss DHHS Guidelines for HIV treatment;
- Review common errors and pitfalls in ARV prescribing and dispensing;
- List examples of common look-a-like and sound-a-like medications in HIV and in primary care;
- Identify key resources for managing HIV infection for pharmacists.

There will be a brief presentation from Sanofi regarding the Pharmacological Approach to Type 2 Diabetes at 6:00 PM

Kathy Febraio, PSSNY’s Executive Director will present a legislative update and respond to questions at  6:30 PM

To receive credit for this program, participants must complete the sign-in sheet and complete the online evaluation. Information will be sent to mycpemonitor.net within 10 days of the conclusion of the program.
