At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
· describe the epidemiology, symptoms, and factors that increase the risk for opioid overdose and opioid-induced respiratory depression (OIRD) and assess patients for in-home naloxone;
· identify important drug interactions resulting from CYP450 metablolic and p-gylcoprotein absorption pharmacokinetics;
· cite specific examples where mathematical opioid conversions are risky;
· describe how to integrate RIOSORD analysis into community and institutional practice settings for qualifying patients to receive in-home naloxone for dual therapy with opioids.
